
Innovation, a Vital Need
The Plataforma Tecnológica del Vino (PTV), of which I am vice-president, held its ‘2019 Innovation Awards’ ceremony yesterday at Caixa Forum. The association gave away awards to a researcher and two projects, as well as an honorary prize. My most sincere congratulations to all of them and to this initiative, which seeks to promote the competitiveness and innovative development of the Spanish wine industry. In order to talk about research, eagerness is a requirement, a vital need, as are personal and material resources. For me innovation is not just a word that sounds good, it is an attitude and a commitment. It is part of our daily lives and is reflected in all our products and processes. The amount of information we have, thanks to the projects we have led or participated in, has helped us to learn more about the land, vineyards, etc. and to improve the quality of our wines, oils, creams or services. Or to carry out projects as disruptive as non-alcoholic wine. The activity in this field has led us to develop around a hundred projects over the last ten years. Numerous winemakers from all over the world have visited us in order to learn about our R+D+i activity. We can never stop learning and innovating, it is an ongoing process.
